Fever
This series is called “Fever” and S. 01 consists of a single channel video piece taken of Lake Monroe in Sanford, Florida - the hometown of member Daniel Watkins. He writes “this lake looks in on a town that is a lot like many low income towns in Central Florida. It was built on celery and during WWII was home to a major Naval Air Force installation. It was also the birthplace of Twiggy the Waterskiing Squirrel. In 1882 the severed head of a citrus baron named Sam McMillan was found on the banks of Lake Monroe. His murder remains unsolved and in school we were told that his ghost haunts his former citrus grove, today known colloquially as the Mystic Circle.” In this piece - accompanied by a live ambient score - the lake is rephotographed over and over to the point of abstraction. By removing the literal definitions of both place and sound we hope to create our own Mystic Circle where all ghosts have a chance to find what they are looking for. Missing heads or otherwise.
